However, the UEFA Europa League may be the saving grace for Amorim, should they go on to progress through to the final and win.
While attention remains fixed on the first team and their bid to rescue the season in Europe, change could also be coming at academy level.
Adam Lawrence to leave his role as Manchester United U-18 manager
The Manchester Evening News reports that Under-18 manager Adam Lawrence is considering his future after four years at the club.
Lawrence joined from Charlton Athletic in 2021 and has worked in several roles within the academy structure.
Roles which included working as head of player development before taking charge of the U18s.
His future now remains uncertain.
However as per MEN, sources suggest he is open to a new challenge and is more likely to depart than stay.

It’s understood any exit would not be linked to the ongoing club-wide redundancies affecting other departments.
As the report states, Lawrence has not yet made a final decision.
Lawrence oversaw a historic treble last season at U18 level.
A campaign which included two final wins over local rivals Manchester City.
This year, his side fell short in the FA Youth Cup, losing a dramatic semi-final on penalties to Aston Villa.
The Villans went on to beat City in the final.
United’s U18s have finished second in the Premier League North and have one fixture left to conclude the season.
