Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation has been under the spotlight this summer around the media.

Andre Onana has carried on his struggles into the new season after another disastrous game against Grimbsy Town.

Altay Bayindir made yet another mistake in yesterday’s game against Burnley and he also cost the Red Devils a goal against Arsenal.

Senne Lammens has been the name that is the closest to joining the Red Devils.

The Belgian goalkeeper is keen on a move but United still need to agree on a fee with Royal Antwerp.

It is thought that with only a few days of the window left, urgency is needed to complete the transfer.

And now the Red Devils have made alternative moves for Emiliano Martinez.

According to Fabrizio Romano via X, Manchester United have made a new approach with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez.

Talks remain ongoing for Senne Lammens, while Manchester United want to be ready if the deal collapses with less than 48 hours to go.

Romano also mentions a new approach for Martinez took place with his camp.

Andre Onana has been Old Trafford’s first-choice keeper for the past two years, but his dubious choices have left much to be desired.

The Cameroon international was the Premier League goalkeeper with the most errors that resulted in a goal being given up last season.

Since joining Aston Villa in 2020, Martinez has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best players.

In his 201 games, he has had numerous outstanding performances, including winning the league’s Save of the Season award in 2023–2024.

The World Cup winner has yet to win a trophy at the club level, but he is still a symbol of composure under duress, which United badly lacked the previous season.
