Manchester United’s academy continues to be one of the most productive in European football, with the club enjoying another strong campaign across its youth levels.

Several standout talents have made the leap to Ruben Amorim’s first-team squad, including Chido Obi and Harry Amass, and more are expected to follow in the final weeks of the season.

United’s Under-18s fell just short of the league title after winning 20 of 24 matches, finishing second only to rivals Manchester City by the slimmest of margins.

The Under-21s have also reached the national semi-finals, reinforcing the club’s investment in youth and long-term development under Amorim’s regime.

One of the breakout names during this impressive campaign has been left-back Dante Plunkett, who joined Manchester United from Aston Villa last summer after initially appearing as a trialist.

Dante Plunkett, 17, featured in 18 of United’s 24 Under-18 Premier League matches, notching two goals and five assists across the campaign.

His standout moments included a brace of assists in a 13-1 thrashing of Leeds and another assist in a 4-0 win over Stoke City in the penultimate game of the season.

However, Plunkett’s fine season came to an abrupt end in the final fixture against Sunderland, where he was forced off the pitch in the 78th minute after suffering an injury.

The talented teenager was visibly distraught, with an image posted to Instagram showing him with his head in his hands while receiving treatment.

Though the nature of the injury hasn’t been revealed, Plunkett wrote: “unfortunate ending.. I’ll be back,” hinting at a determination to return stronger.

Support has poured in from fellow United academy players, including Chido Obi and Samuel Lusale, who both sent messages of encouragement.

While his absence will be felt, the timing may spare him from missing competitive fixtures, with the next Under-18s campaign not kicking off until August.

His performances this season have cemented his place as one to watch next term – provided his recovery stays on track.
