Manchester United’s Premier League campaign has been nothing short of a nightmare so far, leaving fans and pundits alike stunned at the struggles on display.

The club’s injury issues and fixture list have added to the pressure, while several new signings are yet to settle fully into the team.

Supporters have voiced frustration at the lack of cohesion, yet behind the scenes the hierarchy appear committed to stability rather than knee-jerk decisions.

Discussions at Carrington remain focused on long-term strategy rather than short-term panic.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United’s board continue to back Ruben Amorim despite the team enduring their poorest start to a season in 33 years.

United’s early-season woes have been compounded by international call-ups, leaving key players fatigued and testing the squad’s depth.

The latest setback came on Sunday as United were hammered 3-0 at Manchester City, a defeat that underlined the severity of the crisis.

The 40-year-old Ruben Amorim now has a dismal record of eight wins from 31 Premier League matches since taking charge on November 24, placing United at the bottom of the table in terms of points accumulated by the 17 ever-present top-flight teams since his appointment.

A source close to the manager described it as “incredible” that Amorim’s position is not under genuine threat despite 16 league defeats, highlighting the unusual patience being shown by the club’s board.

United invested £225.32million in four summer signings, yet the returns have been pitiful: only one win from the opening four league fixtures and a solitary goal from open play in six hours of action.

Between these league failures came the humiliating League Cup exit to fourth-tier Grimsby Town, leaving the FA Cup as United’s only realistic shot at silverware this season.

Ruben Amorim, contracted until 2027, remains resolute in his philosophy, insisting he will not abandon the 3-4-2-1 system that defines his approach.

“When I want to change my philosophy, I will change.

“If not, you have to change the man,” he told reporters.

“My message is that I am going to give everything.

“I will do everything, always thinking about what is best for the club.

“I really want to win games. I am suffering more than them.”

The Portuguese manager’s unwavering stance shows a commitment to his principles, even as Manchester United navigate their worst start to a season in over three decades.

With the board backing him, Amorim’s challenge now is to translate his philosophy into results before patience runs out.
