Manchester United’s final game before the international break saw The Red Devils head to Villa Park taking on Aston Villa.
Unfortunately for United, the game played out to a 0-0 draw, seeing Erik ten Hag’s side drop to 14th place, making it their fifth game without a win.
However, new reports are highlighting a potential security scare at The Villains’ home ground.
Reports from The Sun have claimed that the away team dressing room, used by United, was bugged before the game.
A prankster has claimed that he snuck past Villa Park staff to be able to plant a hidden device in the dressing room two days before the game.
The recording device captured Erik ten Hag’s team talking to his side ahead of the high-pressure game which had his future as United boss on the line.
The Sun has reported that a source said: “This is a shocking breach of security and some serious questions will be asked as to how this was allowed to happen. Fortunately, there was nothing sinister to this incident.
“It was just a prankster, who’s actually a United fan, being silly and wanting to hear what was said inside those four walls. But it will definitely be a cause for concern about how they managed to get inside a changing room at one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs just days before a match.”
Whilst The Sun have heard the recordings, they have chosen not to publish the details of them, only stating that the Dutchman’s instructions to the team could be heard.
It’s understood that the recording device was a phone from China which has a setting where a microphone can be activated by calling it from another device. He’d attached the device using sticky tape, out of sight and rang the phone when the manager was in the room.
It’s understood that the device was then collected by the prankster on Monday, a day after the game.
This incident is the latest in a run of stunts targeting stadiums and teams, with Premier League chiefs on high alert.
