In a startling turn of events, Manchester United’s dressing room was reportedly bugged during their recent 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Villa Park.

According to a report by The Sun, a fan managed to plant a recording device inside the away changing rooms, capturing manager Erik ten Hag’s team talks and instructions.

The incident raises serious security concerns, especially considering the pressure Erik ten Hag is currently facing at Old Trafford.

Many believe that a loss to Unai Emery’s side could have jeopardized his position. While the 54-year-old Dutch manager appears to retain his role for now, this security breach has brought player safety into question.

The anonymous prankster allegedly outsmarted Villa Park’s security personnel by concealing a Chinese mobile phone within the dressing room.

The device, taped out of sight, was activated remotely by calling it, triggering its microphone.

Ten Hag’s instructions to both the entire team and individual players were reportedly captured clearly.

Although The Sun has not published the audio content, the mere existence of the recording is alarming.

Publicly, Ten Hag commended his team’s performance despite facing criticism from fans and pundits.

A source commented on the incident:

“This is a shocking breach of security and some serious questions will be asked as to how this was allowed to happen.

“Fortunately, there was nothing sinister to this incident. It was just a prankster, who’s actually a United fan, being silly and wanting to hear what was said inside those four walls.

“But it will definitely be a cause for concern about how they managed to get inside a changing room at one of the Premier League’s biggest clubs just days before a match.”

The prankster retrieved the device the following Monday, leaving authorities baffled about how such a lapse in security could occur.

This event is not isolated; Manchester United has been targeted by online jokers in recent months.

In May, a YouTuber known as ‘Lizwani’ infiltrated the team bus after a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace near the end of last season. He managed to take a seat before being escorted off.

These incidents have prompted Premier League officials to advise clubs to enhance their security measures.

While these pranks are deemed inconvenient, they are often executed for social media attention rather than to cause harm.

Clubs are now on high alert to prevent future breaches that could compromise team strategies and player safety.
