Manchester United’s struggles in front of goal have continued this season.

The Red Devils currently sit in the bottom half of the Premier League, after a miserable season.

Lot of which, can be put down to structural issues.

Which have eventually led, to attackers struggling to thrive despite the formation change after Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

According to Samuel Luckhurst on MEN, Rasmus Hojlund is now facing growing frustration from United coaches.

The Danish striker has failed to score in his last 16 matches.

His performances have come under scrutiny, with staff reportedly unimpressed.

One coach was particularly critical of his display in the 1-0 loss to Tottenham.

Hojlund was substituted against Everton with United trailing 2-0, before the comeback to 2-2.

He was replaced by 17-year-old Chido Obi, making only his second appearance.

A loud cheer from the away end greeted Hojlund’s removal in the 70th minute.

Some fans suggested this was as much about his exit as Obi’s introduction.

United then scored twice within ten minutes of the change.

The reaction was a stark contrast to the boos Hojlund received when substituted on his full debut.

Despite his struggles, club sources insist staff are encouraging the striker in training.

Head coach Ruben Amorim hooked him last month after a lost aerial duel.

He has not hidden his frustration with Rasmus Hojlund and other players on the touchline.

Hojlund was given the No.9 shirt at the start of the season.

So far, he has only managed seven goals, with just two in the Premier League.

He has failed to score in 27 of his 33 appearances this season.

United spent £64m, rising to £72m, to sign him from Atalanta in July 2023.

Initially, they insisted they would not pay more than £60m for him.

Hojlund switched to the SEG International agency before the transfer.

The same agency represents former United manager ten Hag.

His first season was respectable, netting 16 goals in 2023-24.

However, his poor form and United’s -7 goal difference raise concerns.

A move for a more prolific striker in the summer now seems inevitable.

Since Amorim took charge in November, Hojlund has completed 90 minutes only five times.

He has been substituted ten times during that period.

With United struggling for goals, patience with their record signing is wearing thin.
