Manchester United have been making headlines recently, with Ruben Amorim under pressure following a tough start to the Premier League season.

Sunday’s derby defeat at Manchester City left fans frustrated, as the Red Devils struggled to find consistency and failed to get out of second gear at the Etihad.

Key players such as Luke Shaw and Manuel Ugarte have struggled for form, while new signings are still trying to settle into the squad.

Despite the poor results, United remain focused on bouncing back, with supporters hoping for a return to the attacking flair that once defined the club.

Off the pitch, the hierarchy continue to back Amorim, signalling patience as the season progresses.

Away from the men’s struggles, Manchester United Women provided fans with a far brighter story on Sunday.

Captain Maya Le Tissier reached a remarkable milestone by making her 100th appearance for the club in a 5-1 win away to London City Lionesses, as revealed via United’s website.

The skipper celebrated in style, opening the scoring from the penalty spot just three minutes into the match and later providing the assist for Jayde Riviere’s strike that made it 2-0, completing the full 90 minutes in a commanding performance.

Remarkably, Le Tissier’s milestone came in United Women’s 100th competitive fixture since she signed from Brighton in July 2022, having never missed a game across her three-and-a-bit seasons.

Within that century, she has started 98 times and made two substitute appearances – both in League Cup ties against Everton and Sheffield United.

Since scoring twice on her September 2022 debut against Reading, she has netted eight further goals, taking her total to ten.

Maya Le Tissier now becomes just the seventh player to feature 100 times for United Women since the team’s 2018 reformation, joining Ella Toone, Mary Earps, Leah Galton, Hayley Ladd, Millie Turner, and Katie Zelem.

It was a milestone afternoon for other squad members too: Riviere and Hinata Miyazawa made their 50th appearances, Riviere scored her first goal, and summer signing Jess Park registered her first assist in United colours.

Melvine Malard netted twice, including her first WSL goal, and Fridolina Rolfo made her debut off the bench, assisting Park’s strike.

Le Tissier’s century and the team’s dominant performance underline United Women’s growing strength, showing a side capable of consistency, flair, and results even as the men’s team navigates a challenging campaign.
