Manchester United have confirmed they will make up to 200 fresh redundancies.

It comes as part of a wider corporate restructuring under part-owners INEOS.

This follows last year’s job cuts, where 250 staff were let go, sparking backlash.

United say the latest redundancies are aimed at improving financial sustainability.

The club has recorded financial losses for five consecutive years.

Omar Berrada issues statement on cost-cutting measures

Chief executive Omar Berrada addressed staff at a meeting on Monday.

In a statement posted on official club website, Berrada admitted “hard choices” were necessary to stabilise the club’s finances.

Berrada said: “We have a responsibility to put Manchester United in the strongest position to win.

“We are initiating a wide-ranging series of measures which will transform and renew the club.

“Unfortunately, this means announcing further potential redundancies and we deeply regret the impact on those affected colleagues.”

He added: “We cannot invest in football success or facilities if we are continuously losing money.”

United’s financial situation has worsened with the team struggling in the league.

Head coach Ruben Amorim admitted the playing staff must take some blame.

He suggested better performances would make the club more profitable.

Meanwhile, INEOS are also reportedly planning to close the staff canteen.

Instead, employees will be provided with fruit as a cost-cutting measure.

The new ownership, in place for 14 months, has made several unpopular decisions.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is also in conflict with fans over ticket price increases.

He was confronted by supporters after United’s defeat at Fulham earlier this month.

Tensions between INEOS and the fanbase continue to rise amid financial pressures.

Interesting times ahead for United fans who only continue to lose faith in the club moving forward.
