Ruben Amorim was horribly mistreated in his pre-match press conference before Sporting CP faced Manchester City.
Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill rudely insisted that the manager spoke in English, despite the organiser making it clear that the interview will be conducted in Portuguese.
The conversation went as follows:
‘I cannot speak in English now,’ Ruben Amorim said.
Cotterill: ‘Why?’
Amorim: ‘Sorry.’
Cotterill: ‘Why?’
Amorim: ‘[The other reporters] will miss in Portuguese so I have to speak in Portuguese.’
Cotterill: ‘They’ve had about 25 minutes in Portuguese.’
Amorim: ‘I know, I know.’
Cotterill: ‘We want ten seconds in English.’
Sporting media representative: ‘We will proceed in Portuguese. Next week you can hear him talking in English.’
Cotterill: ‘It’s like a cold shoulder to your English fans.’
‘Sorry,’ Amorim replied, laughing nervously.

United do not plan to take official action against the reporter, as they generally have a good relationship with Sky Sports, according to Mail Sport.
However, there was some disappointment among members at Old Trafford over the unprofessional behaviour.
Cotterill previously had a confrontational run-in with former United manager Erik ten Hag when he was first appointed in 2022.

He tried to get the Dutchman to speak on his move to United on two occasions, both in May 2022.
This angered Ten Hag so much that he refused to take a question from Cotterill at his first pre-match press conference for United later that summer.
However, the veteran reporter has not got any icy relationship with every former United manager.
Jose Mourinho recently gifted him a signed shirt when United faced Fenerbahce in the Europa League and even offered to take him out for dinner during the pre-match press conference.
