Manchester United’s pre-season preparations are in full swing as Ruben Amorim’s side gears up for their clash against West Ham United in the Premier League Summer Series.

The Red Devils have already arrived in the United States for the next leg of Tour 2025, with friendlies against Bournemouth and Everton also lined up.

All eyes remain on the new arrivals and potential outgoings, as Amorim continues shaping the squad ahead of his first full campaign in charge.

Meanwhile, the Premier League club’s transfer dealings are having a ripple effect beyond English football.

That includes one unlikely winner—now set to benefit massively from a signing they had no direct involvement in.

Manchester United’s reported £71 million capture of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford has handed French Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes an unexpected financial windfall.

According to local outlet L’Est-eclair via GET Football, the City Group-owned club will pocket a total of €9 million as a result of the deal.

This includes €7.4 million from a sell-on clause inserted into Bryan Mbeumo 2019 transfer to Brentford, when Troyes sold the winger for €6.6 million with a €1 million promotion bonus attached.

In addition to that, Troyes are due a further €2 million through training compensation and solidarity payments, as per FIFA regulations.

The unexpected cash injection is a lifeline for the Champagne-based side, who have been battling serious financial constraints amid a collapse in domestic TV rights and a declining wage structure.

Troyes only escaped double relegation last season due to Bordeaux’s administrative demotion to the French fourth division, after finishing 17th in Ligue 2.

They eventually finished the 2024/25 campaign in 10th place on 44 points, but their off-pitch struggles persist.

The €9 million windfall represents a significant boost as the club looks to stabilise and re-invest in a squad capable of pushing for promotion.

While United fans will be focused on Mbeumo’s on-pitch impact, this move is already having major consequences for clubs across the continent.
