Manchester United’s first-team staff undergoes even more change as another long-term coach leaves.

Erik ten Hag has had his contract as manager extended to 2026, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe confident in the Dutchman. The INEOS owner believes that ten Hag is the right man to lead United through the start of Ratcliffe’s reign at Old Trafford.

However, the consistency in staying with the manager has not been seen in other roles, with new appointments everywhere.

Rene Hake has been brought in from Go Ahead Eagles as ten Hag’s assistant manager with United legend Ruud van Nistelrooy also joining the coaching staff.

Most recently Jelle ten Rouwelaar has joined from Ajax as a goalkeeping coach after a mere two weeks at the Eredivisie side.

Now, news has officially come from United that senior goalkeeping coach Richard Hartis has left the club after five years.

Hartis started at United under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having left the England Under-20s team to join the Red Devils. During his time at the club he’s been part of the coaching staff led by Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, Ralf Rangnick and now ten Hag.

This wasn’t the first time Hartis had coached at United though, having coached United’s Under-18s team for nine years between 2001 and 2010 under the guidance again of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Having done two stints at Leeds with the Under-18s and the senior team, Leicester Under-18s and Cardiff City’s first team, Hartis returned to Old Trafford with a wealth of experience under his belt.

Now United have confirmed on Monday 15th July that ten Rouwelaar has succeeded the 56-year-old who has left without his next club confirmed. The club also confirmed that Craig Mawson will be remaining as ten Rouwelaar’s assistant.
