Manchester United are all set to appoint a new assistant coach from Liverpool.

According to a report in The Athletic, Scott Rogers who left his role as Liverpool women’s assistant head coach last month will join Marc Skinner’s staff as assistant coach for the Women’s team.

The arrival of new head coach Gareth Taylor at Liverpool’s women’s team signalled the end for Rogers’ time at Liverpool.

Rogers has a lengthy history with the club, spending five years at the club from 2013 to 2018, first as an assistant manager to Matt Beard when Liverpool won the Women’s Super League title in 2013 and 2014, and then he took over the reigns and managed the club from 2015 to 2018 guiding them to mid-table finishes.

United beat Leicester City 4-0 to kick off their WSL campaign and Rogers was in attendance.

Rogers joins Skinner’s staff that already contains assistants Dan Bale and Carl Green. Both Bale and Green already worked with the current United Womens Team manager at Orlando Pride and Birmingham City.

There has been a lot of change with the United Women’s team this summer with key players leaving and other ones arriving.

But what is perhaps lesser known is that nine members of staff departed this summer, resulting in a huge shakeup for Skinner’s backroom staff.

Charlotte Healy who was previously Skinner’s assistant, was at the club for six years but left in June to become the head coach of Bristol City women.

Rogers has vast experience in coaching, be it in the men’s or women’s game, going all the way from academy to first-team level.

Before his assistant role at Liverpool, he spent almost three years at League Two side Accrington Stanley as the academy’s head of coaching and also spent two years at Blackburn Rovers as an academy coach.

After a brilliant start to the WSL campaign, United play Brann on Thursday in the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round.
