Manchester United are facing struggles both on and off the pitch, with The Red Devils having their worst Premier League run to date and facing significant financial pressures.
Earlier this year, co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe claimed that without his intervention United would be bust by Christmas 2025.
The INEOS owner purchased his 27.7% stake in Manchester United at the end of 2023, taking charge of the football operations at the club.
As such, Ratcliffe has led a range of cost-cutting measures including mass redundancies, ticket price hikes and cutting of funding to the club’s associated groups.
However, United are now set for a significant financial boost thanks to Burnley and Leeds being promoted to the Premier League.
The pair of Championship teams have officially gained promotion for next year’s season as they sit eight points clear of third-place Sheffield United with only two games left to play, meaning they can’t be caught.
As such, the clubs are re-entering the Premier League after Leeds were relegated in 2023, whist Burnley is bouncing back after being relegated last year.
With the clubs once more in the Premier League, the English top flight will no longer be paying the teas parachute payments, a funding from the Premier League to support relegated teams.
The Mirror has reported that whilst Leeds were going into their final year of the payments, due to be handed £16 million, Burnley were due to receive £35 million next season.
In total this means a total of £51 million which will be split across the top-flight teams.
Whilst this seems like a loss to the two promoted sides, it’s nothing in comparison to the £110 million they’re in line to pick up thanks to television rights and prize money in the league.
