The future of Kobbie Mainoo has been called into question in recent days.

Kobbie Mainoo has not played a single minute in the 2025–26 Premier League after two games, suggesting that Ruben Amorim has moved the young midfielder farther down the hierarchy.

Ruben Amorim has stated in press conferences that the young English midfielder is competing with captain Bruno Fernandes for a spot in the team.

Manuel Ugarte has come on as a substitute in the last two games, with Casemiro starting both.

With the Carlos Baleba saga seemingly over now, questions have been raised in the midfield.

Toby Collyer has left on loan, raising questions for a replacement.

Recent reports have suggested Mainoo could leave this summer.

CentreDevils can reveal that Kobbie Mainoo is expected to stay this summer amid speculation and despite being open to a move away and several clubs’ interest.

We can reveal that the club is not looking to sell him nor has he asked the club to leave.

While he is open to a move away due to lack of game time and fear of being completely out of Ruben Amorim’s plans, a move away this late in the window is seen as unlikely.

The club will have meetings in the following days with Mainoo and his representatives with the aim of finding a middle ground best suited for all parties.

Mainoo played a crucial role in Erik ten Hag’s team before Amorim arrived, assisting him with the FA Cup, when he and another United academy product, Alejandro Garnacho, scored in the team’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the final.

Contract talks with the player’s camp had stalled throughout the season, reaching a standstill despite the midfielder starting for England at Euro 2024 and being included in the starting lineup for the final match against Spain.
