Despite being only 15 years old, Kai Rooney is already making a name for himself in the Manchester United academy.
Naturally expectations of the youngster are already high, being an attacker and the son of club legend Wayne Rooney, who holds the record as The Red Devils’ highest goalscorer.
Already Kai Rooney has impressed, jumping up three age groups in the academy, playing in the Under-18s side alongside other talented youngsters like JJ Gabriel, Bendito Mantato and Amir Ibragimov.
In his last game for Darren Fletcher’s side as United’s Under-18s took on Middlesborough, Rooney came off the bench in the 71st minute, replacing Samuel Lusale, who had already set up Amir Ibragimov for the club’s third goal following Bendito Mantato’s opener and JJ Gabriel grabbing a stunning solo goal.
Just before Rooney took to the pitch, Gabriel had grabbed a brace, making it 4-0 heading into the final 20 minutes of the match.
However, six minutes after joining the game, Rooney grabbed his first goal for the Under-18s, making it 5-0 as the game’s final goal.
Unfortunately though, the 15-year-old has now taken to Instagram to unveil himself in a protective boot and on crutches.
Captioned “Life can’t get worse”, Kai Rooney is clearly devastated at the timing of the unknown injury, and with details yet to be revealed, it’s unknown as of yet when we can expect to see Rooney back on the pitch.
