Jose Mourinho was appointed as the new Manchester United manager on May 27, 2016, replacing Louis van Gaal.

In his first summer, he brought in players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

He secured two major trophies in his debut season: the League Cup (Carabao Cup) and the Europa League and also won the Community Shield in his first season.

By his final year, his relationship with the squad and the club’s ownership had deteriorated, with criticisms of players and a perceived lack of support in the transfer market.

The 2017-18 season saw United finish second in the league and reach the FA Cup final, but the subsequent season started poorly.

Mourinho was sacked on December 18, 2018, just before the third anniversary of his appointment.

The Portuguese is the current manager of Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

His team has been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho in recent weeks, and he has now been linked with a move back to the English Premier League

According to the Sun, Jose Mourinho is a contender for the Nottingham Forest manager role after a rift between Nuno Espirito and newly appointed Global Head of Football Edu Gaspar, the ex-Arsenal technical director.

In the morning, reports emerged abroad suggesting Nuno was about to be sacked.

But instead of playing down the rumours – which Forest had already denied – he said, “There is no smoke without fire – I know how things work.”

This has led to rumours of his sacking being imminent, which has led Mourinho to come into the framework.

Nuno signed a new three-year contract just two months ago – ahead of a season which saw Forest qualify for Europe for the first time in three decades.

The ex-Manchester United coach could make a sensational return to the English Premier League and Forest could be the perfect club for him.
