With a rising focus on incorporating young players into first-team routines, the club’s recruitment and development structure continues to produce promising potential.

Recent years has seen the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo break through the academy and be first-team starters.

The trend looks set to continue with JJ Gabriel who is tearing academy football apart right now.

Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel has broken a Manchester United record of being the youngest ever goalscorer for the U18s.

Gabriel scored two goals today for the U18s in a 5-0 win vs Middlesbrough U18.

He is so highly regarded that Jason Wilcox, the technical director, directly participated in the negotiations for his new contract.

Against Leeds United in April, JJ Gabriel made his Under-18 debut and made an impression against opponents who were frequently older and physically stronger than him.

Ruben Amorim personally met Gabriel at the Carrington training ground, and the youngster will be drafted into first-team training sessions on occasion.

Even though it is typical for academy players to train with the senior squad, especially after games when a number of first-team players are recuperating, it is extremely rare for players as young as Gabriel to do so.
