Manchester United are looking to appoint to a permanent post as director of recruitment, cementing the club’s ongoing transfer strategies.

Over the last two and a half years under Erik ten Hag, The Red Devils have spent £600 million on transfers.

Unfortunately, the return on this massive spending has been one Carabao Cup, one FA Cup, and the worst Premier League and European run the club has ever experienced.

The club are now looking to turn things around, however, have their hands tied for the January transfer window.

Due to the financial pressures on the club, the recruitment team has no funds allocated for the winter transfer window, having to rely on sales to generate transfer funds.

As such it’s never been more vital for United to have a strong recruitment strategy.

The Daily Mail has reported that United are now in talks with Vivell about making his role at the club permanent.

The former Chelsea technical director has been hailed as a recruitment expert thanks to his days at RedBull Salzburg, appointed as Head of Scouting.

In this role, Vivell was the man behind the rise of Patson Daka, Karim Adeyemi and the now Premier League stars Dominik Szoboszlai and Erling Haaland.

Vivell continued his expertise at RB Leipzig where he brokered the sales of Timo Werner, Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate, all of which were massive sales for the club.

Already at United, it was reported that Sekou Kone’s decision to choose United over RB Leipzig came down to Vivell’s involvement.

Now, United are hoping he can continue his work with the club, contributing to key recruitments and sales to better manage the club’s squad and finances.
