Benjamin Sesko’s name is one that has been heavily mentioned among Manchester United fans this summer.

The club have been working tirelessly in putting an end to a tiring striker search.

One that has involved three failed pursuits – Liam Delap being the first one, who opted to join Chelsea.

Viktor Gyokeres was a long standing target, who joined Arsenal rather than reuniting with Ruben Amorim.

While Hugo Ekitike ended up joining Arne Slot’s Liverpool, leaving United staring at a move for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

Fabrizio Romano earlier mentioned the possibility of Sesko being involved in a player swap deal.

One which could see Leipzig ‘dream target’ Rasmus Hojlund move the other way.

Although that remains unlikely at this stage due to the Dane’s refusal to entertain negotiations with potential suitors.

Irrespective of a potential swap deal potentially being in the works, it’s clear that Sesko is now the main target for the Red Devils.

The player himself once spoke on the possibility of joining United.

Speaking to Vauks Army on YouTube two years ago, Sesko was asked whether he could see himself at United.

The 22-year-old, however, said: “Maybe, maybe in a few years. I’m not ready for that level yet.

“I still have so much to learn, so much room to improve.

“Let’s say if my maximum is 100%, I’m currently at 60%.

“I’m still growing and improving, year by year.

“Once I reach 100%, I will be ready for anything.

“I think it’s best to take that step when the time is right.”

Humble words from Sesko, which certainly speaks of his honesty as a character which United fans would like from any potential signing.

Sesko’s development over the last two years has been nothing short of immense.

2023/24 campaign saw the striker bag 18 goals in 42 games in all competitions.

While last season, he netted 21 goals and six assists in 45 games.
