Manchester United have now officially unveiled their travelling squad for the Premier League Summer Series tour of the United States.

However, eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that key defender Harry Maguire has been left out of the list.

Taking to their official website, Manchester United have announced Ruben Amorim’s squad as;

Goalkeepers: Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Dermot Mee, Will Murdock, Andre Onana.

Defenders: Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Patrick Dorgu, Tyler Fredricson, Ayden Heaven, Diego Leon, Lisandro Martinez, Noussair Mazraoui, Reece Munro, Luke Shaw, Leny Yoro.

Midfielders: Casemiro, Toby Collyer, Bruno Fernandes, Jack Fletcher, Sekou Kone, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount, Manuel Ugarte.

Forwards: Amad, Matheus Cunha, Rasmus Hojlund, Bendito Mantato, Bryan Mbeumo, Chido Obi, Ethan Williams, Joshua Zirkzee.

The United centre-back has experienced a resurgence under Ruben Amorim, making 31 appearances under the Portuguese coach, even grabbing three goals and an assist.

The 32-year-old really showed he’s still got it, in United’s dramatic 5-4 win over Lyon in the second leg of the Europa League Quarter-Final as he set up Diogo Dalot on the brink of half-time and then scored the winning goal seconds off of the final whistle of extra time, saving the club from penalties.

As such, it comes as a surprise that Amorim isn’t taking his key defender to America for the pre-season tour.

However, Samuel Luckhurst has reported that the 32-year-old has been left in England due to a personal matter as opposed to it being in relation to an injury.

Whilst this is obviously not ideal, with Harry Maguire missing valuable pre-season training time and match experience against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton, it’s certainly a relief to have it confirmed that the star isn’t in the Carrington treatment room.

Thankfully Lisandro Martinez is also looking to be recovering well, so Amorim should have his Argentinian centre-back at his disposal in no time at all.
