Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund were teammates at Manchester United during Hojlund’s first spell at the club.
Maguire, who has made 249 appearances for United, is arguably one of the more experienced heads in the Old Trafford dressing room.
Therefore, even with his defender status, his in-game experience may have been important to Rasmus Hojlund when he joined the club in 2023, the first time he had joined a Premier League club in his career.
Furthermore, Maguire’s experience of the Premier League, alongside that of players such as Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, arguably may have been essential in helping the Danish international settle into life during his first season in the Premier League.
The former English international’s advice may also help Hojlund during his loan spell with Napoli, who he officially joined during the closing stages of the summer transfer window.
But, Maguire’s experience, feedback, and support may still be needed, even if it is in tiny bits.
Now, the defender has commented on the Danish international’s debut performance versus Napoli that saw the striker score inside 14 minutes.
Commenting under Hojlund’s Instagram post following his debut, Maguire stated “love it mate” followed by the fire and clapping emoji.
The language used in the post, alongside the choice of emoji, arguably suggests that the former English international was pleased with the striker’s performance against Fiorentina.
Furthermore, this comment can be seen to be supporting Rasmus Hojlund as he starts his loan journey with the Italian champions.
Now, attention could turn towards the prospect of a continuation of the support offered here by Harry Maguire.
If this continues, the defender will arguably be showing a positive and continued impression both to the footballing world and to the Danish international himself as he aims for success.
