Manchester United have fallen once more down the Premier League table to 14th place with only six games to go.
Their 4-1 loss to Newcastle United saw Everton climb above them into 13th as they surprisingly beat third-place Nottingham Forest 1-0.
However, this most recent loss for United marked their 17th defeat of the season, with Ruben Amorim’s men coming under routine criticism throughout the year.
Now, United legend Gary Neville has made his thoughts known, with a bold statement against the current class of Red Devils.

Gary Neville calls out Ruben Amorim’s men
Speaking to Sky Sports after United’s loss to Newcastle, Neville pulled no punches, labelling the Red Devils as a poor team.
The former defender commented: “I said at the start of the game that if Newcastle play well, Man Utd will get beat.”
He continued: “They are not a very good team, it’s as simple as that.
“The biggest worry is that there have been teams in the last five, six, seven years at Man Utd where you’ve thought they are every talented players, but they aren’t giving it their all.
“The problem with this group of players they are giving it their all. There isn’t a lack of effort. They are so below the standard and quality you need at that football club, all over the pitch.
“Apart from Bruno Fernandes, Amad Diallo maybe, I can’t think of any of them that I’d hang my hat on.
“It’s a really desperate situation because the squad is so poor in quality. They’ve got old players and they’ve got young players who are nowhere near it. It’s a worrying situation.”
When you look at the stats, Neville’s comments, whilst harsh, are fair, with the club’s top goalscorers being Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo, with Diallo being out of action injured since February.
Also Onana has the most mistakes of any Premier League goalkeeper which have then resulted in conceding a goal, with Altay Bayindir failing to perform in his absence.
Unfortunately the club needs a huge overhaul in the summer, however are reliant on sales to be able to make any notable signings for Amorim’s side.
However, Neville also criticised Amorim’s system, not just the players.

Gary Neville condemns Ruben Amorim’s tactics
Turning from the players themselves to Amorim’s system, Neville commented: “The system is a problem.”
He went on to explain: “I’ve asked this question for about two months, who are the natural wing backs? Players that are good going forward, that have great energy and that are good enough going back. Who are those players?
“Who are these two players he plays in behind the striker? They need a centre-forward who is going to carry the line.
“Who is that player that is available who is going to go to Man Utd because there are seven or eight teams at the top of the league who ned a striker too. You aren’t going to Man Utd over Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal, who also need strikers.
“The are massive issues.
“Honestly, you don’t know where to start, you don’t know where to build the first step from, and that’s the problem at the moment.
“There’s a serious amount of time required and good recruitment for that club to get right.”
This again rings true with previous comments from Sir Jim Ratcliffe who said it would take six transfer windows to build a team that can consistently fight for the title.
However with one of those windows spending a further £200 million for Erik ten Hag’s system, draining funds and recruiting players with a very different playstyle to what Amorim wants, it could realistically now take a lot longer.
