Manchester United are desperate for their first win of the 2025/26 season after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in the season opener at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim’s side showed glimpses of promise despite the loss, with new signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo making full debuts, while Benjamin Sesko also appeared for the first time after replacing Mason Mount in the second half.

The early part of the season has already seen Amorim rotate his squad heavily, with key players being assessed for fitness ahead of the trip to Craven Cottage.

Confidence is high among the Red Devils’ attacking players, and the coach has a strong squad to choose from, signalling that the team is ready to respond to last weekend’s setback.

Defensive solidity will be key, however, as injuries continue to shape United’s line-up decisions ahead of the clash with Marco Silva’s side.

Ruben Amorim has provided a brief team news update, ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

Amorim had a strong squad at his disposal for the Gunners’ visit, with Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui the only confirmed injury absentees.

The pair are set to be missing again at Craven Cottage, while the boss was asked about the availability of Andre Onana.

The Cameroon international sat out of last Sunday’s fixture, with Altay Bayindir continuing behind the sticks.

Andre has recovered from his pre-season injury and is available again, but Amorim did not confirm if he would bring United’s no.24 into the side.

“Onana is ready to play like last week, so we will see in the game who is going to be keeper,” Ruben Amorim said in United’s pre-match press conference ahead of the Fulham game.

“Licha is out, Nous is out.

“The rest of the guys are fit and ready to play.”

Marco Silva says Fulham will make a decision over the fitness of Ryan Sessegnon and Antonee Robinson before their game with Manchester United on Sunday.

Sessegnon was left out of Fulham’s squad against Brighton last weekend, having been withdrawn from their final pre-season friendly at home to Frankfurt.

Robinson, who missed the whole of pre-season after undergoing minor knee surgery in May, will also be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Sessegnon was in training last week, but Silva decided not to risk him, instead opting to play centre-back Calvin Bassey out of position.

Bassey produced an excellent performance from left-back as Fulham rescued a point at the Amex, but Silva said he was relieved to have Sessegnon back available.

“We are going to have another session tomorrow; we will take a decision on both Sess and Robinson.

We didn’t want to take the risk with Sess last week,” Silva said in his pre-match press conference.

“Calvin did so well last week, Cuenca can play there (left-back) too.”

Fulham’s injury problems at left-back have exposed a wider issue of squad depth, with the Whites having still only brought in one new signing this summer, backup goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte.
