Phil Jones admitted that he struggled to ‘comprehend’ what Ten Hag was saying in his only training session with the manager.
The centre back left the club in 2023 after years of injury issues.
His last training session with the Red Devils was Ten Hag’s first in their 2022 pre-season preparations.
Speaking to Planet Premier League, he detailed this day and his thoughts on Ten Hag’s recent sacking.
‘I literally went out on the grass and I knew that was my last training session anyway, so it’s very difficult for me to even comprehend what he was saying,’ Jones began.
‘So he obviously outlined exactly what he wanted to do and his staff, and I think he’s very proud of what he did at Ajax and I think he backed himself to make good decisions.
‘He was confident in making bold decisions,’ he said.

Jones went on to explain that Ten Hag is generally unphased about the public’s opinion, but started to get frustrated towards the end of his spell at United.
The Dutchman constantly referenced the silverware he won in his two seasons with the club, especially when he was criticised over poor performances.
‘I don’t think he’s too bothered about what people think in terms of decisions he’s making.
‘You think he probably got a bit irritated by people questioning him and hence his response every time about winning the two trophies and it was difficult for him, ‘ Jones said.
