Manchester United have started the summer transfer window with intent signing Wolves striker Matheus Cunha yesterday on a 5 year deal with the agreement between the two clubs worth £62.5 million.
However, to strengthen the squad, United will still need to sign other players during the transfer window in several positions including in midfield and in defence.
With a reported £125m budget, the Red Devils will also need to sell some players in order to clear space within the squad for new players whilst also providing the recruitment team with more money to work with when aiming to sign targets.
This can already be seen during the transfer window with rumours swirling around a potential move away from Old Trafford for Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo.
Today, Fabrizio Romano revealed that Inter Milan had contacted representatives of Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund who joined the club in the 2023 summer window.
Romano also revealed a matter of days ago that Hojlund was at the top of a shortlist of options for Inter to buy this summer.
Since coming to the club, the Danish international has managed to play 95 games scoring 26 goals. However, the striker has received mixed reviews from United supporters.
Furthermore, it is clear to see that the 22 year old has had a worse second season at the club since his first season which can be seen through his Premier League statistics where Hojlund has scored 4 goals during the 2024-25 campaign. In contrast, the striker was able to net on 10 occasions during the 2023-24 season.
What Striker Depth Do United Have?
The news that Inter Milan have contacted Rasmus Hojlund’s representatives and consequently the belief that Hojlund could be on his way out of the club may probe some United fans to look at the current striker depth the club has.
Currently, not including Hojlund, Manchester United have four other main strikers in new signing Matheus Cunha, Joshua Zirzkee and youth academy graduate duo Ethan Wheatley and Chido Obi-Martin, who excelled in United’s Malaysia tour.
This depth, plus the possibility of the Red Devil’s recruiting for another striker, provide necessary cover even if Hojlund was to leave the club and join the Italian side.
Will Hojlund Leave United?
With Inter Milan reported to be interested in Rasmus Hojlund, will the striker leave United or will he stay? Only time will tell in this transfer rumour.
