Everton have announced today that they will release a former Manchester United captain at the end of the season.
There are only a few players who featured in Manchester United’s 12/13 squad – the last to win the Premier League – who are still prevalent in the Premier League.
Big names, such as Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov, and Ryan Giggs, have gone on to retire in the past years.

Young to leave Everton
And today, Everton have announced that Ashley Young, a key player of that 12/13 squad, will leave the club at the end of the season.
In a statement, Everton said: “Young joined the Blues in July 2023, with his experience, leadership and versatility proving invaluable over the past two seasons.
“Ahead of tomorrow’s last-ever Premier League match at Goodison Park, Young has made 68 appearances for Everton across several positions, scoring goals against Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.”
Manager David Moyes said: “Since my return to the Club, I’ve seen what a great professional Ash is and know the leadership qualities he has brought to the squad during his time at Everton.
“His versatility, experience and know-how have also been really beneficial to the team and me.”
