Erik ten Hag sends message to England national team

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has sent a heartful message to the England national team in recent days.

Erik ten Hag was officially appointed as the new Manchester United manager back in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

Despite finishing 8th the prior season, he was given another season with plenty of money to spend in which he led the Red Devils to another bad run of form.

This led to his sacking in October 2024, with assistant coach Ruud van Nistelrooy taking over as an interim coach.

Only a few weeks later, the current Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, was appointed.

Erik ten Hag has since been appointed recently as the new Bayer Leverkusen manager.

The Bundesliga will be tough with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund looking strong.

The Dutch coach has been in the spotlight again more recently after sending a message to the England women’s national team.

The Athletic reports that Erik ten Hag, a compatriot of England head coach Sarina Wiegman and her assistant Arjan Veurink, sent the following letter: “Arjan, we grew up in the same region of Twente, and I invited you to some Ajax training sessions in 2020.”

“It’s a success story! Veni, Vedi, Vici—you came, you saw, you conquered.”

“The flagship of Dutch (women’s) football.”

“Based on common sense, pragmatism, and hard work.”

“Today, you will put the finishing touches to your work!”

As the only manager in men’s or women’s football history to advance to the final of five consecutive major championships, Lionesses manager Sarina Wiegman has made history.

The 55-year-old will now try to win a hat-trick of European championships after winning the last two with the Netherlands and England, respectively.

This was a great touch and message by for the former Red Devils coach as the Lioness face a tough test.
