Jadon Sancho’s departure from Old Trafford seems all but confirmed now with Chelsea looking likely to sign the winger.
A key factor of Sancho’s move away from Manchester United has believed to be around his relationship with manager Erik ten Hag.
Last season the pair had a bust up which saw the winger get banished to Borussia Dortmund on loan. As a result it was expected that the preseason return to Carrington would see Sancho in individual training. However, this wasn’t the case.
On day one, the pair sat down together and talked to put the bust up behind them. That day, the England international was in team training and has featured in the preseason games.
With Sancho missing from both of United’s opening Premier League games, even so far as travelling Brighton then not even sitting on the bench, it was fair to assume the issues between the pair had reared their ugly head once more.
However, ten Hag’s recent comments about Sancho paint the opposite picture.
The Dutch manager said: “He is playing on squad, and we are happy with him. We need a good squad. We need depth. We have to play many games until January. After the break ,we play every third day, so we need options.”
These comments suggest that despite the lack of game time, Sancho is a part of ten Hag’s long term plans.
