Manchester United’s long-term strategy under INEOS has placed a clear emphasis on nurturing young talent from within the academy.
The club are looking to balance their senior squad with emerging stars, ensuring the pathway from Carrington to the first team remains strong.
Ruben Amorim has already demonstrated his willingness to integrate promising youth players, with a number of names viewed as potential first-team options in the coming years.
That vision is supported by INEOS’ commitment to either develop top prospects directly in-house or send them out on carefully chosen loans to accelerate their growth.
It is this approach that has shone a spotlight on one of United’s brightest young players – JJ Gabriel.
The 14-year-old attacker has already caught Amorim’s eye and is set to train with the first team this season, an extraordinary step for someone of his age.
Gabriel’s reputation has now reached the international stage, but with a surprising twist.

According to his father Joe O’Cearuill – a former Arsenal player capped by the Republic of Ireland – the youngster has turned down the chance to join England’s U16 squad for friendlies against Italy.
Writing on X, O’Cearuill confirmed: “JJ not going he staying with u18 at United.”
The decision ensures Gabriel remains available for United’s U18 Premier League Cup tie against Brighton and a possible league clash with Derby County.
United’s efforts to retain and develop the teenager this summer, alongside Amorim’s personal involvement, highlight just how highly rated Gabriel already is at Old Trafford.
Gabriel has also been promoted to Darren Fletcher’s U18 side on a full-time basis, where he impressed with a standout display in the opening day win over Everton.
Last season he made his mark with three goals in as many appearances for the U18s, including a brace against Leeds United, further showing off his potential.
