Emiliano Martinez is one of the goalkeepers linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
The World Cup winner has previously been formally contacted by the Red Devils.
Furthermore, United had advanced in their pursuit to sign the Argentine international.
However, the deal had seemed to faded out as Ruben Amorim’s squad centred their interest in Senne Lammens.
But, today, United made a last-ditch effort to sign the ‘keeper before the transfer window closes.
Furthermore, most recently, it was revealed that Manchester United and Emiliano Martinez had agreed terms over a potential deal to Old Trafford.
Now, a key update has emerged relating to Martinez.
The goalkeeper has been left out of Aston Villa’s squad for their Premier League game against Crystal Palace.
Posting on their official website, the club have revealed that new signing Marco Bizot will take his place.
Martinez could have been left out of the Villa squad for a number of reasons.
The first of these is due to injury.
However, given the Argentine played in each of the Villa Park outfit’s other two Premier League games, this conclusion is arguably unlikely.
The second reasons is because of a potential transfer to Manchester United.
If Villa were to play Martinez, they would arguably be risking him getting injured which would jeopardise any potential move to United.
Either way, Unai Emery’s decision to leave the ‘keeper out of his squad raises questions.
Furthermore, with transfer speculation arguably at its highest, leaving Martinez out can not be just a coincidence.
However, the true reason for the goalkeeper’s absence will not be revealed yet.
Therefore, United and Villa fans alike will have to wait for an official explanation from Emery himself.
In the meantime, speculation arguably will continue to rise.
