Manchester United’s defence has undergone major changes since Ruben Amorim arrived at Old Trafford.
The manager has made it clear that he wants full-backs who can offer both defensive stability and attacking output, which is why United continue to monitor the market for reinforcements.
With United preparing for a tough run of fixtures after the international break, squad depth is being tested across all positions, especially in defence where competition remains fierce.
Fans will be keeping an eye on how players leaving Old Trafford adapt to new challenges, particularly when it comes to those once seen as long-term options for the club.
One of those players is Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is now set to take a completely different step in his career by representing the Democratic Republic of Congo, as the African country included the former United man in their latest team selection, as they announced via X.

The 27-year-old right-back, now playing for West Ham United, has switched his international allegiance after previously being part of England’s youth system.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka once featured for DR Congo’s U20s before moving across to England’s U20 and U21 sides, where he even played at the 2019 UEFA European U21 Championship finals.
However, despite being called up to the senior England squad in 2019, he never made his debut and has now decided to commit to the nation of his parents’ birth.
Earlier this year, DR Congo boss Sebastien Desabre named him in the squad, but the full-back withdrew at the time due to what the Congolese federation described as “personal medical reasons.”
This time around, there appears to be no setbacks as Wan-Bissaka prepares to make his long-awaited debut.
The Leopards will count on his defensive strength as they aim to stay top of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group, with hopes of returning to the biggest stage for just the second time since 1974.
His first appearance could come as soon as Friday against South Sudan in Juba, before a huge clash against Senegal in Kinshasa four days later.
United supporters will no doubt keep an eye on his progress, remembering a player who, at his best, was one of the most reliable one-on-one defenders in the Premier League.
