Pre-season preparations are well underway at Manchester United as the squad continues to shape up under Ruben Amorim.

United’s focus now turns to the clash with Leeds United in Sweden on Saturday – a fixture that could provide more clues about the manager’s evolving tactical preferences.

Fans are eager to see how the new signings integrate into the setup, with Amorim reportedly assessing who fits his complex system before the squad heads back to England.

Behind the scenes, there has been a push to settle new recruits early into the rhythm of the squad, with the coaching staff placing strong emphasis on positional discipline and adaptability.

With several academy players training alongside the senior side, attention has shifted to how some of the youngest faces are adjusting to life at one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Among them is 18-year-old Paraguayan wing-back Diego Leon, who has now officially received his first squad number at Manchester United.

As officially confirmed via the clubs website, Diego Leon has been allocated the no.30 shirt ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, a number previously worn by the likes of John O’Shea and Guillermo Varela.

He replaces former United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop, who vacated the shirt before joining AFC Wimbledon after a spell at Sunderland.

The teenage defender arrived from Cerro Porteno, and has already begun training with Amorim’s senior side at Carrington.

Leon previously wore no.37 at club level and no.4 for Paraguay’s Under-20 national team, but will now don no.30 as he looks to impress during United’s summer fixtures.

Coaches are said to be pleased with his early attitude and the way he has adapted to a more intense training regime in Manchester.

United fans may get their first real glimpse of Leon in action when the Red Devils take on Leeds in Sweden.

Leon’s selection and shirt number underline how seriously United are investing in promising young talent from South America as part of their long-term rebuild.
