Manchester United’s focus this pre-season hasn’t just been on high-profile transfers or outgoings but also on the emerging youth talents looking to force their way into Ruben Amorim’s plans.

The club have already seen the likes of Kobbie Mainoo make significant first-team strides, with Amorim’s arrival signalling a potential pathway for even more prospects to get a look-in.

While the Reds prepare for their pre-season tour of Sweden and the United States, fans are eager to see which unfamiliar faces might get minutes on the pitch alongside senior stars.

United’s revamped strategy includes keeping certain new signings at Carrington to help them settle into the club’s culture and style of play instead of sending them out on loan immediately.

It’s part of a wider shift toward internal development — one that could benefit their latest South American recruit.

Diego Leon arrived in Manchester recently after officially completing a move agreed back in January and made it clear he had no intention of being shipped out to another club.

“Everyone thinks I’ll go out on loan, but I don’t have that mindset,” he boldly said.

“I’m going to kill it in pre-season and within one or two games, I’ll already be playing with them.”

United seem to agree with the idea that the 18-year-old is better served staying close, as per The Athletic.

Diego Leon has already been training exclusively with the first team over the past week and a half as Ruben Amorim and his coaching staff assess his readiness.

A final decision on whether he remains part of the senior setup or joins the under-21s has yet to be made, but the plan is clear — no loan, only integration.

Leon is expected to feature on United’s upcoming pre-season tour and will likely get game time at under-21 level once the squad returns to England.

His pathway to the senior team may be challenging, but the early signs suggest that Leon is determined to seize his chance in a new era under Amorim.
