Cole Palmer is on a tremendous run of form right now.

The 22-year-old is a vital part of the Chelsea squad, helping them to third place in the Premier League.

The attacking midfielder has currently got seven goals and five assists in 11 games so far this season, contributing to his 32 goals and 20 assists in 58 appearances in a year and a half at Chelsea.

His impressive run of form got him his first England call-up in 2023, becoming a regular for The Three Lions. In nine appearances for England, including a call-up to Euro 2024, Palmer has scored two goals with one assist.

Controversially, especially having come through the Manchester City academy, Palmer is a Manchester United fan, and quite known for it.

Cole Palmer and his admiration of Manchester United legends

So it’s no surprise that a Manchester United and England legend stuck out in his DM’s amid his recent run of form.

Speaking to GQ magazine, Palmer commented on a message he received from David Beckham. Palmer commented: “[David] Beckham messaged me. I scored one day, and I saw him in my DMs.”

When asked if the England international had watched Beckham play back in the day, Palmer commented: “Not really. I was a bit young.”

However, Palmer has shown admiration for another Manchester United legend, former striker Wayne Rooney.

The 22-year-old has commented that he would watch Rooney play and try to replicate his goals. Speaking to The Telegraph, Palmer commented: “If he’d scored a goal on the weekend, I would go out and see if I could do it,”

He continued: “My family still live in Wythenshawe, so when I’m going past the park I always try to stop and remember it.

“I do try to take it in my stride, but you do sometimes have moments when you think, ‘Maybe 12 months ago none of this was like this, maybe I could go more places and do things.’

“I do stop and think, ‘Wow, it has changed fast.’ I’m still getting used to it.”
