Manchester United are aiming to end the transfer window with another major signing as INEOS push to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Having already spent over £200 million this summer – including the high-profile arrival of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig – the club’s recruitment drive shows no signs of slowing down.

Midfield and goalkeeper targets remain on the agenda, with United particularly keen to add more physicality and dynamism in the middle of the park.

One name high on their shortlist is Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, a player admired for his blend of defensive solidity and composure on the ball.

And the 21-year-old has now been publicly urged to join United by former Red Devils midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba.

Speaking to Footy Africa, Djemba-Djemba described Baleba as “among the top defensive and box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League” and claimed a move to Old Trafford would be a “masterstroke” for both player and club.

“Baleba is currently among the top defensive and box-to-box midfielders in the Premier League, and joining Manchester United wouldn’t surprise me at all.

“It would be a masterstroke of a deal for both the player and Manchester United.

“He’s a massive passer and a shield to the backline, but also great going upfront, which is what Ruben Amorim desires,” Djemba-Djemba said.

He also went on to state that Baleba would “improve his game working in a project under a whole new rebuild.

“For me, that would only spell good news for Cameroon to be honest.

“The only negative about this deal is that Brighton would be losing a massive asset.

“He’s such a beast, yet he also has the ability to pass at range and shoot.

Baleba, who has impressed since arriving in the Premier League, would also become part of a growing Cameroonian contingent at United alongside Andre Onana and Bryan Mbeumo.

Brighton, however, are reluctant to sell and have placed a £100+ million valuation on the midfielder, hoping to keep him for at least another year.

It has been made common knowledge in recent days that personal terms will not be an issue, indicating Baleba is open to the move.

United’s plan is to secure the player’s agreement first in an effort to pressure Brighton into lowering their asking price before the window closes.
