Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has hinted at underlying issues within the squad following their hard-fought 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

Despite securing three points, the result did little to ease concerns over United’s struggles under Ruben Amorim.

The manager has faced criticism for his 3-4-2-1 system.

Since taking charge, Amorim has won just 10 of his 23 games, suffering nine defeats.

His win percentage currently stands at 43.48%.

Former Arsenal star Paul Merson has claimed the Portuguese coach is the “real problem” at Old Trafford.

Meanwhile sections of the fanbase and pundits continue to question the tactical setup.

Speaking after the game, Fernandes admitted that not everything is clicking but insisted the squad must follow the manager’s instructions.

“Me and H [Harry Maguire] have been here for a while already.

“We know that we have to stick to what we’ve been trying to do in training [and] what we’re supposed to do,” Fernandes told TNT Sports.

“It could be that you could feel in moments that it’s not working, but for some reason, the manager wants us to do that.

“If he wants us to do that… they [the coaches] watch so many games, they prepare themselves [for our matches].

“We have so many staff – not only the ones who came with him but the ones who were already here.

“We have great people behind the team to work on that.

“So if they do that in the right way, we just have to come on the pitch and show it.

“As I said, we need to have more confidence [and] be more brave to show our character and our qualities.”

Fernandes’ comments hint not everyone in the squad is convinced by Amorim’s methods, adding to the growing pressure on the United boss.
