Bruno Fernandes has had a brief but eventful stint on international duty this week.
When flying out to join the rest of his Portuguese teammates, Fernandes was hailed a hero, saving a fellow passenger on his flight.
Fernandes immediately called for support when he noticed a man at the back of the plan who appeared to be passing out.
A fellow passenger, Susanna Lawson recalled the events saying: “Bruno [Fernandes] went to the loo at the back of the plane during the flight.”
She continued: “(We) suddenly heard a shout for assistance which those within hearing distance looked back, including us as we were toward the back.
“Members of the crew rushed to the back to help. There was a spare seat at the back which Bruno helped the gentleman to sit down on. He stayed at the back with them and made sure he was OK.
“It might have been about 5-10 minutes and then he made his way back to his seat but again very unassuming. He wasn’t looking for any attention on himself.”

Following the events on the plane, Fernandes was also a hero on the pitch, being a strong component of the Portuguese side that beat Poland 5-1. The midfielder contributed to the masterclass with a goal on the 80th minute to give his side a 3-1 lead.
However, despite his contribution, Fernandes, along with Cristiano Ronaldo, Pedro Neto and Bernardo Silva, have all been sent home early.
The reason behind Bruno Fernandes being sent home early
Fabrizio Romano has reported that Portugal’s head coach has sent the foursome home early in order to give some of the fringe players a chance vs Croatia on Monday 18th November.
Portugal are currently at the top of the group, six points clear of Croatia going into the final game. Thankfully, Martinez’s side have already qualified for the knock-out stage. This allows for the coach to use the match as an opportunity to test some of his young stars.
However, this is also a massive boost for United. With their captain flying home early, Fernandes will be meeting his new manager Ruben Amorim much sooner.
It also gives the midfielder more time to be a part of Amorim’s tactics.
Amorim will now be getting his plan together ahead of United’s next match against Ipswich on 24th November.
