Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes delivered an injury update after Portugal’s victory over Scotland on Sunday evening.

Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for Portugal, scoring a long-range equaliser after former United teammate Scott McTominay gave Scotland the lead.

This gave Fernandes his 22nd goal contribution in his last 18 appearances for his national side, securing his status as a vital part of the squad, being extra special for him on his 30th Birthday.

The United captain saw out the whole match which saw Portugal achieve the win thanks to a last-minute goal from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Now, Portugal sit at the top of Group 1 in League A, with Croatia and Poland in second and third with three points each.

However, during the encounter, Fernandes looked to have picked up a knock but played through the pain to finish the game.

Thankfully, the United captain calmed any nerves when asked about the potential injury after the game telling reporters “It’s okay. It’s just a little bump.”

United fans will have been a little worried seeing Fernandes take the knock, with the injury list at Old Trafford already mounting much like last year.

Whilst Rasmus Hojlund and Luke Shaw look likely to return to the pitch soon, potentially even in the next game vs Southampton after the international break, there are still a number of stars ruled out for longer.

Leny Yoro is still ruled out until November, with no return date known for Mason Mount and Victor Lindelöf.

Thankfully though, fans of The Red Devils won’t need to worry about their captain being side-lined, with an incredible stat recently emerging for the midfielder.

In 599 games for both club and country, Fernandes has only missed a total of six games due to injury, which is truly a mark of incredible conditioning from the 29-year-old.
