The Manchester United manager job is arguably the most scrutinised in world football today.
It’s well publicised that the new hierarchy at the club were looking at their managerial options in the summer.
After an internal review, they decided to stick with current incumbent Erik ten Hag after he led the team to FA Cup success.
However, the start to the new season has brought back a lot of the same questions that were being asked last year.
The decision to stick with Erik ten Hag after chasing a range of other managers has also come under scrutiny.
German manager Thomas Tuchel was one of the most high profile names linked with the club.
BILD reported that the former Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund manager had turned down the job offer.
But it seems that Tuchel was not the only man offered the top job at Old Trafford.
And he also wasn’t the only German offered it.

BILD journalists are reporting that Manchester United contacted another manager from Germany before they had extended the contract of Erik ten Hag.
Christian Falk has tweeted that the club has contact Sebastian Hoeness over the role.
Who is Sebastian Hoeness?
Hoeness is the current manager of VfB Stuttgart.
Taking over the club in April 2023 when they were in the relegation zone, Hoeness’ first season ended with the club surviving the relegation playoff game.
But it was his second season that has raised his profile.
That’s because he took Stuttgart to second place and a UEFA Champions League spot in the 2023/24 season.
From bottom of the league to second is a phenomenal achievement.
Especially as that meant that they ended higher than Bayern Munich in the table and only undefeated Bayer Leverkusen finished above them.
But it seems that Sebastian Hoeness wasn’t keen on the move to Manchester.
That’s because the club asked Stuttgart for the availability and potential cost to bring Hoeness to England, but the German coach himself declined the opportunity.

It seems from there, the decision to stick with ten Hag was made.
If what the BILD journalists are reporting is true, then that seems to indicate that the relationship with Erik ten Hag is a marriage of convenience rather than one that is built from a genuine belied that he’s the right man for the club.
This revelation is likely to ramp up the rumours around the top job at United.
If Erik ten Hag doesn’t turn things around soon, then the Manchester United hierarchy may start reaching out again to managers again.
Whether that’s Sebastian Hoeness or something else remains to be seen.
VfB Stuttgart have had a mixed start to the new campaign.
They currently sit in 8th position in the Bundesliga after winning 2, drawing 3 and losing one of their opening 8 matches.
Has the opportunity to become Manchester United manager passed Hoeness by?
During the summer break, Manchester United contacted Sebastian Hoeneß (42), manager of VfB Stuttgart. Even before they extended the contract of head coach Erik ten Hag (54), the United bosses wanted to know whether Hoeneß would be available for the job as United’s manager and… pic.twitter.com/9dGEPz1x7y
