As Manchester United fans eagerly await the debut of their towering new striker, Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenia international has shared insight into the players who have shaped his footballing journey.
Standing at an imposing 6ft 5in, Benjamin Sesko brings a unique physical presence to the squad, one that United have not seen since a very memorable figure graced the Old Trafford pitch.
His style and approach to the game reflect a blend of admiration for some of the club’s all-time great forwards, showing a deep appreciation for their skills and mentality.
Benjamin Sesko officially begun training with Manchester United on Monday as he looks set to begin his United career.
In a revealing interview filmed at the newly renovated Carrington training ground, Sesko spoke candidly about his inspirations and how they influence his own ambitions.
It may come as no surprise that Sesko’s biggest idol is none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic, United’s one-time ‘Swedish hero’.
“He’s been my role model since I’ve been small,” Sesko explained in an interview with MUTV.
“I’ve been watching him, like every single YouTube video that I can find, because he’s just amazing for me, you know.”
Zlatan’s career spanned seven countries, and while his character off the pitch is unique, it is his commanding style on the field that Sesko finds most inspiring.
“We don’t have the same, let’s say, character,” Sesko admitted.
“But I like to see him, the way he plays, the way he enjoys football, because that’s when all the joy comes, you know.
“If you enjoy football, then everything works.
“And I think this is the most important.
“It’s probably also one of the parts that just makes me love him so much, you know what I mean? So maybe one day to meet him, that would be great.
“He’s my idol.”
Preparing to wear the famous red shirt at Old Trafford, Sesko is eager to bring parts of Ibrahimovic’s game into his own style.
“Of course, I try to take some stuff from him,” he said.
“Especially like some similarities with the high kicks and power strikes.
“For me, there’s [also] Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, all those kind of guys. I
“‘ve also been watching them, of course, on the videos.
“They’ve been great, of course, you can admire them a lot and I try to also show myself in a good light here and try to help the team, try to help club to be as high as possible.”
Benjamin Sesko looks set to carve out his own legacy at Old Trafford now while honouring those who came before him.
