Manchester United are preparing for the next round of the Europa League after beating Lyon in dramatic fashion in the quarter-final at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have drawn LaLiga side Athletic Club for the semi-finals as Tottenham Hotspur play Bodo/Glimt in the other fixture.

United will be heading to Spain on 1st May 2025 for the first leg, with the home clash set for the 8th May 2025 where Ruben Amorim will be hoping his men can book a slot in the final.

However, The Red Devils may have just been handed a huge boost going into the fixture.

Tonight Bilbao faced Las Palmas in LaLiga with Athletic holding on in fourth place in the Spanish league.

However, in the 22nd minute, Oihan Sancet was substituted off injured, making way for Peio Canales.

Sancet is currently Bilbao’s top goalscorer this season with 17 goals and three assists in 31 games, even grabbing a goal against Rangers in the Europa League quarter-final.

This could be a huge boost for United, however it’s not yet known the full extent of his injury.

Sancet has been out of action earlier in the season on three occasions, two of which were linked to his hamstring, missing a combined seven games and another occasion with an ankle sprain, missing six matches.

With the clubs first meeting of the semi-finals only a week away, it’s perceivable that Oihan Sancet could miss the opening leg, however may return for the fixture at Old Trafford.

However, more will surely be revealed once Athletic have the chance to assess the injury later this week.
