Antony’s future at Manchester United remains in serious doubt following an impressive turnaround on loan at Real Betis.

His latest comments have cast further uncertainty on whether he’ll wear the red shirt again.

Signed for £86 million from Ajax in 2022, the Brazilian failed to find consistent form at Old Trafford.

He recorded just 12 goals and five assists in 96 appearances before being loaned out to Spain in January.

Since joining Betis, the 25-year-old has rediscovered his spark, scoring seven goals and adding four assists in 20 appearances under Manuel Pellegrini.

That form has caught the attention of clubs across Europe, with Betis having the intentions to extend his stay while Atletico Madrid may consider a permanent move.

Antony labels Real Betis move as “best decision ever made”

Speaking about his resurgence in Seville, Antony told reporters as per Daily Mail: “The best decision I’ve ever made was coming to Betis.

“I’m happy – and when I’m happy, things go well.”

Although United still technically hold his rights and no option to buy was included in the loan deal, Antony’s words will not have gone unnoticed in Manchester.

Ruben Amorim has said that final decisions on all loanees will be made once they return to Carrington.

However, United are expected to try to recoup as much of their £86m investment as possible.

Antony acknowledged the uncertainty surrounding his future but hinted that staying in Spain wouldn’t be unwelcome.

“The future? It’s very early; I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’m very happy here.

“I’ve found myself enjoying football.

“It’s crazy right now, although I know how talented I am.

“So I prioritised going where I knew I’d be happy, even though I had better offers.”

Betis currently sit one point outside La Liga’s top five and are also eyeing European silverware.

They hold a 2-1 aggregate lead over Fiorentina in the Europa Conference League semi-final.

A potential final clash against Chelsea or Djurgarden awaits in the final.

As the season nears its end, Antony’s form could be key.

But whether it leads to a permanent break from Manchester United remains to be seen.
