Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Manchester United’s Altay Bayindir, Harry Maguire, and Matthijs de Ligt for their crucial roles in the FA Cup triumph over Arsenal.
Bayindir, making a rare start ahead of Andre Onana, proved decisive by saving Martin Odegaard’s controversial penalty and producing several key stops late on.
The Turkish goalkeeper then denied Kai Havertz in the shootout, setting the stage for Joshua Zirkzee to score the winning penalty.
Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt also delivered commanding performances, with their defensive resilience vital to United’s survival with 10 men.
Shearer, speaking on the BBC via Daily Mail, highlighted the trio’s impact, singling out Bayindir for the man of the match honor.
“He holds his nerve, he doesn’t blink first,” Shearer said.
“It was a three-way tie between him and De Ligt and Maguire who I thought were also superb.
“But just because of his penalty save, I thought I would give it to him.”
Shearer added, “When you get an opportunity, you have to take it, and he took it today.”

On Dalot’s dismissal, Shearer remarked, “Once he commits to that challenge, he’s got to win the ball.
“Even the slightest touch and he’s going over.
“You can’t complain when you’re on a yellow card.”
The victory sets up a fourth-round clash against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City.
United turn their focus to Thursday’s Premier League meeting with Southampton.
