Giving youngsters a chance is in the Manchester United DNA.

From the Busby Babes to Fergie’s Fledglings, United have always given young players an opportunity.

Household names such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and George Best were all still teenagers when they made their debuts for the club.

And that tradition is set to continue under Erik ten Hag.

The Dutch coach successfully integrated Kobbie Mainoo into the first team last season and Mainoo is now an integral first team player. He’s even gone on to establish himself for the England national team.

Alejandro Garnacho also saw more game time than ever last season and that’s sure to continue again into the new campaign.

MUFC fans have been following the club’s pre-season tour and wondering who will be this season’s Kobbie Mainoo.

Toby Collyer has had a lot of praise. The midfielder is set to make his first team debut in tomorrow’s Community Shield, but it seems that he’s not the only youngster who will be doing so.

Manchester Evening News report that Harry Amass will be starting the game against Manchester City at Wembley.

The 17-year-old left-back is set to play in the continued absence of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

With the first team missing several players through injury, the debut may be more forced than originally intended. But there’s no doubt that Amass deserves his chance based on his performances in pre-season.

Against Real Betis, he even got an assist when playing the ball across for Amad Diallo to finish.

It’s already been confirmed that Amass is set to stay at United for the season, rather than being sent out on loan, and he could make a case for himself to become a more permanent fixture in the backline.

Harry Amass will be tasked with keeping the likes of Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland quiet in his first start for Manchester United. It will only get easier from that point on!
