4. Mike Phelan
Mike Phelan’s long-standing association with Manchester United has made him one of the club’s most revered figures.
As Sir Alex Ferguson’s trusted assistant for several seasons, Phelan was involved in many of the club’s triumphs.
After Ferguson retired, Phelan took on roles at Norwich and Hull City, where he gained experience as both assistant and head coach.
A spell as the sporting director at Central Coast Mariners in Australia followed before he returned to United in 2018 to assist Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Despite not being able to replicate the success of his earlier tenure, Phelan remained a key figure at the club until Erik ten Hag’s arrival in 2022.
Now, Phelan has shifted away from the professional game and focuses on helping at the grassroots level, offering his wealth of experience to the next generation of footballers.
