Last night saw Manchester United delivered an incredible performance away from home, winning the first leg of the Europa League Semi-Final against Athletic Club.

The Red Devils walked away from the clash with a 3-0 win thanks to a superb Casemiro header and a Bruno Fernandes brace.

However, they weren’t the only stars of the show, with Harry Maguire revealing his surprising skill as a winger whilst Alejandro Garnacho was unlucky not to have got on the scoresheet with a goal disallowed.

However, another key player for Amorim’s side was summer signing Noussair Mazraoui who’s established himself as vital to the club in his debut season.

Since joining the club, Mazraoui has been a key member of the United squad, playing as right-back under Erik ten Hag and then shifting into the back three under Ruben Amorim.

Not long after starting at Old Trafford, Amorim made his feelings known about Mazraoui, commenting:

“He is a top player because he understands the game, he is very good defensively, very good one on one.”

He then added: “I think he is the future of our team, we need more players like Nous.”

Since then he’s been solid on the right side of Amorim’s back three, fitting into the centre-back role impressively well.

However, with Diogo Dalot injured, Mazraoui had to return to the right flank against Athletic Club, taking on the right-wing-back role.

Coming up against Nico Williams, the Morocco international had a difficult task at hand, however, he contained the Spanish winger impressively, stopping Williams from creating any chances.

Given the effort Mazraoui put in, with United’s quick turnaround in games, facing Brentford on the weekend, then Athletic Club at home next Thursday, it’s no surprise he’s unlikely to start against Brentford.

Speaking after their dramatic win against Athletic Club, Amorim commented: “We need to be really careful with our players against Brentford. Noussair Mazraoui is dead, Patrick Dorgu is tired – we have to manage the players.”

With such a strong choice of words, it implies that Mazraoui will be rested against Brentford to be ready for the second leg against Athletic Club.

However, with Diogo Dalot out injured, this paves the way for youngster Jaydan Kamason to step up and show what he can do.

The full-back has made 17 appearances in the Under-18s squad, grabbing two goals and five assists throughout the season that has seen the United’s Under-18s pull off some truly dominant displays.

The 18-year-old has also made 10 appearances for United’s Under-21s side across right-back and right midfield, showing his ability to fit into Amorim’s right-wing-back role.

Now, the talented youngster could be set to follow Tyler Fredricson and grab his debut this season, having already sat on the senior team bench on three occasions in the last month.
