Poor Decision-Making
One big aspect of United failing to score more is that their decision-making in the final 3rd has been poor.
We’ve got into good areas at times, but squandered good opportunities.
With the new system, we are relying more on the wingers in a creative sense.
However, the United wingers usually opt to go for goal.
Antony and Garnacho have a combined expected assists of 0.18.
Our wide men are very selfish at times and shoot at unnecessary times, with United having had the most shots blocked this season. Too often we shoot out of frustration instead of being composed and picking our heads up.
There is also a lack of movement which causes our players to run down a blind alley too often.
When it comes to finding solutions, we need to improve our movement off the ball.
This will create more spaces for our attacking players and create easier opportunities.
Our decision-making will also be improved over time, the more we understand the system. Once we better understand the intricacies in build-up, then we will start to create more consistent chances.
