3. Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce is considered one of the greatest players never to earn an international cap.
Despite captaining Manchester United to multiple Premier League titles and playing a pivotal role in the club’s success during the early 1990s, Bruce never received a single call-up to the England national team.

Frustrated by his lack of recognition, Bruce explored the possibility of representing Ireland.
However, this move was blocked by Sir Alex Ferguson, who didn’t want Bruce to be classified as a foreign player.
At the time, Premier League clubs were only allowed a limited number of non-English players, and Bruce’s reclassification could have limited Manchester United’s options.
Despite his commanding performances at the heart of United’s defence, including leading the team to their first league title in 26 years in 1993, Bruce somehow never managed an international cap.
