Manchester United’s defence look likely to have four key departures this summer, with two already confirmed.

Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are all set to leave the club at the end of their contracts, with the recent signings meaning the pair are now surplus to requirements.

Over the last two transfer windows United have signed Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazraoui and Ayden Heaven who all fit into Ruben Amorim’s back three.

With other talent like Tyler Fredricson breaking through the academy and Harry Maguire’s contract being renewed after his resurgence under Amorim, it’s no real surprise that United haven’t looked to extend their contracts.

Alongside them, given his consistent injury issues and losing his spot as United’s first choice left-back, it’s anticipated that United will look to offload Luke Shaw in a bid to generate funds to pull in another strong left-wing-back to accompany Patrick Dorgu and Harry Amass in the role.

The trio are also likely to be joined by Tyrell Malacia, the left-back currently on loan with PSV Eindhoven.

Malacia was deemed surplus to requirements when Dorgu arrived and as this move was done under Amorim, it’s unlikely he’ll be reintegrated into the United squad on his return.

As such, it’s expected that Malacia will be another player culled in the mass squad remodel to bring in another wing-back in his place.
